Many terms ar thrown around on this board such as aerobic capacity, anerobic capacity, max speed, lactic acid threshold, VO2 Max etc. Which of these are the most important for the 800m and what training should be done to improve them?

The day ukathleticscoach contributes something meaningful to these boards is the day Paris Hilton contributes something meaningful to society. Seriously you are the worst poster of all time, you never write anything original, helpful, constructive or even funny. I award you no points and my god have mercy on your soul.
but my shit was funny. so at least he recognized that!
a crap load of 200 sessions, and racing the 400 or 4 x 4 often during the early part of the season
Learn to perfect the first 600. You want to be able to smoothly and efficiently get to 600 regardless of conditions, whereupon your fitness and desire will determine the outcome.
The 800 is intermediate between the strategically technical 400 and the (often) more tactical 1500. You get one bullet to fire, and you want to use it on YOUR OWN terms as much as possible.
One smaller piece of the puzzle: in the gym: back extensions, lat pulldowns and pullups. These will help your final 200 dramatically.
The most important aspect of the 800 is pure hate.
