I'll listen to me some "Baker Street" for awhile....

Man, that sucks. City to City is one of the greatest albums ever made.
Very sad, great songs from a great era .
That's a shame. "Baker Street" and "Right Down the Line" are two of my all-time favorites.
IMO, one of the best and most underrated singer/songwriters of the 70s. 'Baker Street', 'Right Down the Line', and 'Stuck in the Middle With You' are absolute classics!
Sad. Gerry Rafferty was a talent.
His tunes were part of the pop-music canon when I was in my teens. My faves are "Home and Dry" and "Days Gone Down".
RIP
"The Ark" is another great one. And he had an album on "Blue Thumb" called "Can I have My Money Back" that is virtually unknown and now lost to the dustbin of history, though it was quite good.
Man, Baker Street is one of the most under rated songs.
He played every instrument on that song and recorded it in a primative studio, I think it was in his home.
A little scary when people from your era start to pass.
It's tough being old-- our memories get holes. Though a great musician, Rafferty evidently did not play the distinctive sax line. I do remember Casey Kasem specifically mentioning-- when Baker Street was in the Top 40-- the sax player got a solo album because of Baker Street. Credit is given to Raphael Ravenscroft, though that is not totally settled.

Thanks for the info, I always thought it was Rafferty.
Still doesn't change my opinion of him though. That song was the background music for a chunk of my youth.

Great song. Dave Ramsey uses it as the theme to his radio show.
Back when he was in Steeler's Wheel, they did a popular song titled "Stuck In The Middle With You". Now, everytime I hear that song, I immediately get the image of that scene out of Reservoir Dogs, where Michael Madsen's character is torturing that poor cop. That song playing in the background.
GRRRR.....
Agree on Baker Street. Definite thumbs up.

Apparently saxaphone sales skyrocketed following it's release, according to the obituary in today's Times.
Baker Street played in the tape loop of my mind for the 26.2 of Grandma's Marathon in 1980.... Ravenscroft could make that sax speak the language of the Universe. It sure stuck in my head that day.
RIP Gerry: Your music was a uniquely memorable mantra.
I normally listen to classic rock. Heard 'Stuck in the Middle With You' 7 times today but never heard 'Baker Street' even though that is normally in the loop. Weird
Thanks for mentioning it. I'm now listening to a You Tube play list. Awesome music!
