My family is trying to figure out where we are going to go on vacation this summer. I want to go somewhere that has awesome places to run, but I also want it to be fun for my whole family. Any suggestions

Acadia National Park....carriage roads are great for running
San Diego, Santa Barbara, Palos Verdes, Malibu, Dana Point,...
Thanks, good suggestions! Keep them coming!
Fly into/out of Denver or Albuquerque, rent a car, and spend some time in either the mountain or desert SW. We really loved Durango in a counter-clockwise loop to/from Albuquerque, also hitting Santa Fe, Taos, Sand Dunes, and Mesa Verde, among other places.
Or you could spend some time in Denver, then go to Estes Park, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, etc.
Another twist is... I have a sister who likes to shop and go to the beach.

I'll second that but camping in the park would add enjoyment to the vacation if you and your family are open to that. The kids can even bike on those carriage roads and there is always something to do in the park or in BH.
Cleveland has some pretty cool museums, catch a Cavs game, run along the Flats and hang out, grab a bite on 6th street. Not a bad town.
Moab, Utah if your family likes being outside in general. Lots of biking, hiking, climbing, river trips/white water trips, pools at hotels I guess (not the beach). There are definitely a lot of tourist-ish places to shop...
Ridiculous runs, though. In ridiculous canyons, in the La Sal Mountains 15 miles south, up and down ridges and plateaus. Amazing views everywhere.
It gets really hot, so not the best for the hottest weeks of the year.
Dude, don't plan your family trip around your running unless you want to run a specific race. You can run anywhere, even in Phoenix in July (if you get up early enough). Plan a great family trip and squeeze your training in around the family plans. Just my two cents.
A third vote for Acadia; shop in Bar Harbor....take route 1 up from Portland and stop at the beautiful little towns along the way like Camden, Belfast and Bath.
Check out URANUS hhahahha
Camp at Sycamore Canyon in Malibu - its affordable and great for everyone.
- tons of trails for you to run (one of thet best in all of Southern California if you ask me is a mile away) and you can go to different beaches for the kids. Lots to see and do for everyone. Outlet mall in Camarillo (not far) for the wife to shop and take her to Paradise Cove (in lots of movies) for lunch and a drink and she will dig that too. Drive down to Venice one day to see the freaks and take a boat out to the Channel Island's and kayak in the caves on another day. Or go to the Getty Musuem if you are into that stuff.

- do this. Your family will remember it.
Before you go watch Big Wednesday.
