BCS matchups

TCU should have played Stanford, that would have told us a hell of a lot about TCU and Standford. If Oregon wins it's tough to decide which of those two teams should be #2.

The Beauty Contest System is not sports. It's a joke. They can't sell ads for CFB anymore and many games have to be on cable. What a disaster.

You could certainly argue that, though I think Stanford would've handled TCU as well. Stanford should've been in the Rose. Would've attracted more fans. TCU and OU would've put more fans in the seats too. Same deal with Va Tech and UConn, although UConn was a hard sell anywhere.

The Pac-10 has been fairly solid in bowls, which augurs well for Oregon.

I don't care about putting people in the seats, I want good bowl matchups that can actually tell us about what teams are really good.

Agree wholeheartedly that UConn should have played VT. VT is a joke against good teams, maybe they could have knocked off the most undeserving BCS team of all time.

Ohio State vs. Arkansas, fine matchup.

AGREED. I like the BCS, I do think it makes the regular season much more exciting, but, they have to get the BCS match ups RIGHT. This season was terrible in that regard. OSU/Ark is a good match up, but watching two blow outs and one average game otherwise is absolutely unforgivable. Not all top 10 teams are created equal.

VT is always a yawner as far as I'm concerned. I agree with you about Stanford...very good team with a GREAT quarterback who will be the No. 1 pick int he draft if he leaves this year.

I'm interested in the Ohio State game, but only because I'm an Ohio State fan; otherwise I would think this is not that exciting. Unfortunately, even if Ohio State does win tonight, I'm not sure it proves much. Arkansas is not the best team in the SEC or even the second best team in my opinion. So, if OSU wins, it's not like they can say the SEC monkey is off their back or anything like that. The game tonight for them is either a ho-hum "who gives a crap" win or a very defeating loss to the 3rd or 4th best team in the SEC. It's almost a no-win situation for The Buckeyes, except that losing this game is bad.

Arkansas the 3rd or 4th best team in the SEC? Maybe you didn't watch many of their games this year, but they definitely proved to be the runner-up in the conference. They have one of the most balanced offenses in the nation (with the emergence of Davis as a real running threat), and can score big on any team. Ohio State is going to have their hands full.

Auburn and Bama beat the Hogs. Third best team in the SEC WEST.

LSU beat Bama. Bama has 3 losses. Most folks rank LSU ahead of Bama.

The joke is those 4 or 5 Buckeye players that get that delayed suspension next season. Are you kidding me? They should be suspended from playing tonight. Be a man, Coach Vest.

The Suckeyes will lose to another SEC team tonight and go for a perfect 0-10 record against the SEC in bowl games. I hope Arkansas runs up the score on your sorry asses tonight.

Boise State would have beat TCU this year, as they did last year. Boise State vs Stanford would have been a good match-up.

Boise State was good this year, but their loss in a WAC game (vs. Nevada) cost them their chances. TCU didn't have that letdown.

After the loser of the title game and Stanford, Boise State is probably the next best 1-loss team (possibly unless Ohio State absolutely dominates Arkansas). That probably won't show in the rankings, though... too many people seem to think along the same lines as Flagpole (that the Big Ten and the rest of the BCS conference teams are automatically better than the best non-BCS conference teams... without regard to the thought that how bad the bottom of a conference is has no meaning on how good the best teams in the conference could be, as proved over and over by the Mountain West as well as Boise State)

Kudos to the Buckeyes for beating a worthy opponent. I always thought OSU was the #1 team in the Big Ten. I don't care that they lost to Wisconsin. That said, Arkansas dropped a lot of key balls last night.

And while that safety was a bad call, I can't believe Arkansas didn't take that blocked punt into the endzone at the end of the game. OSU survived. But the final score is what matters. So good for them.
