I was looking up some information on UC Irvine on wikipedia and noticed the percentage of student population based on race.
Asian American 47.9%
Caucasian 19.1%
African American -2.3%
How the hell do you get NEGATIVE enrollment anyway?!? And please people, let's not make this be about race.
Huh. Well, I too went to Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_California,_IrvineI'm not sure where you looked up info on UCI "on Wikipedia," but apparently it wasn't this site! Anyway, the site I looked at had the following info:
Ethnicity of 2010 enrolling freshman classEthnicity Percent
Asian American 47.9%
Caucasian 19.1%
Mexican American 14.1%
Decline to state 4.3%
Spanish American 4.2%
African American 2.4%
American-Indian <1%
[Apologies in advance if this site's formatting doesn't accept the Wiki stuff.]
So evidently the problem is solved: whatever you read had a typo (a person might almost have figured that out in advance), and the AA population is actually a positive 2.4%.
OP, given that you started the thread by a) asking about race, and b) making a big deal out of an obvious typo and tying it to a specific race, I'd say it's a little disingenuous to ask that the thread not "be about race."
Nevertheless, OP, I make the following race-neutral announcement: you're a troll and a troublemaker.
Stay off this board and go do your homework.
