"Riley revealed Dathan Ritzenhein who was to captain the USA has withdrawn after injuring himself training indoors because of the weather in Michigan over the holiday period while European 10000m silver medallist Chris Thompson, has pulled out of the British side.
"The American's are working as I speak on providing a replacement for Ritzenhein while Thompson who will be replaced by two-time English cross country champion Frank Tickner, has hip strength problems."

I'm hoping it's not an injury and just that Ritz is going to go after bigger fish at another venue.
oh come on! this is how it starts every year. the next time he'll compete is at nationals, where he'll qualify for the 10k at world's, but worsen his stress fracture, and then he'll jog through the 10k at daegu, because of the injury.
I don't why people are down playing the Ediburgh race as a walk over for the US runners - it is not like they were going to be able to jog/train though and get an easy 1-2 finish.
The guys they are/were lining up against are legit
