I just saw on another thread that the Villard St. Pub in Eugene was torn down. Anyone know why? I went to their website and it says they are rebuilding it, but it will have a different name. My main concern is whether or not Bigfoot will still be there.
They are building a mixed-use building with apartments on the top floors, and the bar below. That's the way I understand it at least. It would be dumb not to put the bar back in, especially with the new basketball arena opening just across the street.

It's not as though it was some classic community bar or something. It was afterthought. It used to be a McDonalds, after all.
It looks like Bob Jensen, who with his brother Jim, started one of the first of a new wave of strip joints in the late 80s, then turned it into the Good Times Blues Bar, then opened the Wild Duck Brewery, which eventually flamed out, and now he wants to revive the name with a campus bar of his own build.
I just hope VSP preserved the Ansel Adams original prints of Pre winning his Olympic medals.

Didn't say it was, but it was within stumbling distance and generally the place to go during meets. In other words, a good tourist bar. I know that's terrible.

My guess is if they have apartments upstairs they're going to be a lot less likely to want the Men from Modesto playing in the parking lot at 2 am.
Which makes this a bad move. Bummer for the running community. I'm sure the men from Modesto are already working on an alternate plan/destination.
