Favre was great to watch. Was he the best ever? Probably not. Was he a great QB? Yes. He had an amazing career with his skill and longevity and in this regard can be compared with Cal Ripken.
I like that Favre eventually kept playing until he knew it was time to go. That time really never came until this year. The media always makes things far greater than they really are and that is what they did everytime Favre would say at the end of a tough season he was done. That is no different than an injured Haile saying he is retiring after he had to drop out of a marathon and then after some time to recover, be ready to run again.
Even this year I saw Favre make some amazing throws but the consistency just wasn't there anymore. All good things come to an end and it is no different for Favre's career.
The Ripken family are several generations of suspected PED cheats. You can NOT consider them as athletes. Entertainers and performers yes, but don't insult hard working athletes by pretending the Ripkens are legit.
