All right, the bowl games were a disaster for the big ten. Should they be disbanded as a football league. Obviously over-rated and over-valued.

While I agree that the Big Ten is over rated, they're still better than the ACC and WAY better than the Big Least. I think the WAC and MWC are better than the Big Least.

WAC? Hawaii? Please.
MWC, at the top, is probably second or third best in the nation... but the WAC generally has 1 good team a year, and with Boise State (AND Fresno and Nevada) bailing, that'll be a big ol' goose egg from now on.
I do agree 100% with the rest of your post, though.
mwc wont be so good next year
both utah and tcu leaving to the pac10 and bigeast respectively
although the big east sucks now it will be interesting to see if they get any better, especially w/ one of the countrys best football programs (tcu). but when a school like uconn is winning conference, it doesn't mean good things. but maybe notre dame will move out of the big10 for football... but right now they sorta suck too so who cares

The Big Ten as a league is pretty bad right now, that's for sure. Wisconsin getting beaten by TCU is really bad. The drubbing the other Big Ten teams took was horrible. The league is CLEARLY a one-team league, and that's Ohio State, and I don't have any high hopes of them pounding Arkansas. The SEC has proven to be as tough as they always have been. Alabama would NOT have been a 3-loss team in the Big Ten.
I HOPE that OSU beats Arkansas on Tuesday, but no way am I predicting that. Oklahoma finally won a BCS game though after 5 losses, so perhaps Ohio State can pull it out...too bad 5 of the players were more concerned with selling stuff and getting discounted tattoos than following the rules.

Notre Dame has been in the Big 10?
Go Illini!

Not just a one-team league. Iowa did the right thing AND knocked off Missouri.
The Big 10 represents the midwest states. Hollywood TV will not give up a market that large. Hollywood TV will continue to insist that it's BCS software algorithm is tweaked to have Big 10 teams play. That's business.
You mean the 8-5 Iowa Hawkeyes who beat a 10-3 Missouri Tigers team from another weak conference? THAT means Iowa is a force in the Big Ten? Meh.

1) 21-19 is not a bad beating. TCU is just that good, though, so that's not a bad loss by Wisco
2) How do you figure that Ohio State is what makes the Big Ten a one-team league? Wisco beat them 31-18 and was the conference winner. If Ohio State were 12-0 and the next best team was 9-3 you can say it is a one-team league.
3)You are correct about the rest of the Big Ten showing - dreadful New Year!
1) For a one-loss Wisconsin team, losing to TCU even by just 2 points is bad, and it does go to show the weakness of the Big Ten.2) Wisconsin beat Ohio State yes, but Wisconsin and Michigan State shared the Big Ten title with OSU this year, AND, when looking at the Big Ten on average year over year, Ohio State for the last 10 seasons has been the only team consistently at the top. The Buckeyes just captured the Big Ten Title for the 6th year in a row (outright or tied). Until another team shows that consistency, the Big Ten is still a one-team conference.3) You are correct that I was correct.

Iowa had a bad year, no doubt. However, look at their schedule, it's a hell of a lot better than OSU's. Doesn't explain the number of losses (Northwestern and MN being obvious pathetic losses). However, when you play 6 ranked teams, it's tough indeed.

Definitely. The BCS conferences are going to be the only decent conferences now with the MWC breaking apart. Utah, TCU and BYU were the three headed giants of the MWC, and now they're all gone. Air Force is a solid program, but not top-25. The MWC will be barely better than the WAC has been over the last decade... and that's not too good.
Meanwhile, Syracuse is getting better in the Big East, and TCU gives them the potential top-5 type team they haven't had since the exodus of their best programs (Miami and VT) to the ACC.
IMO, SEC seems like the clear #1 overall.
Pac-10 and "Big-12" (South) and some years the Big Ten are the "sometimes almost there" conferences. Big East and ACC are just about on even footing now, not too far behind... but now there really is a big dropoff from the BCS to the non-BCS conferences.
That does make it seem all the better time for a national playoff, though, if the Orange Bowl, or preferably the Sugar Bowl ties in the Big East to the challenger spot...
Winner of the Rose Bowl (Pac-10 vs. Big Ten) vs. Winner of the Fiesta Bowl (Big-12 vs. At-Large)
Winner of the Sugar Bowl (SEC vs. Big East*) vs. Winner of the Orange Bowl (ACC vs. At-Large)
3 extra games to determine the #1 team in the nation.
I don't think it would have made a difference this year (TCU is clearly #3 IMO, they barely got passed Wisconsin, who despite the hype they got towards the end of the year wasn't all that incredible), but some years it might.
Remember when Florida, Fla ST, and Miami were always good?
Remember when Notre Dame used to matter?
Remember when Michigan used to at least have a remote chance of upsetting Ohio State?
All things go in cycles and this will too.
No worries, Nebraska will save the honor of the Big 10 next year!

They can't even beat a 6-6 Pac-10 team.
I don't think they'll be saving anything.
Never forget that the "N" on the Nebraska helmet stands for Nowledge.
Flagpole,
How is it embarrassing that Wisconsin loses to a team that's ranked higher, undefeated, and also was a 3 point Vegas favorite... that isn't a bad loss at all... in fact, they covered...
The big ten was terrible in bowl games this year, but they'll bounce back. Personally, I think the month break between games hurts teams in the big ten, but there's nothing you can do about it till there's a playoff...

Embarrassing because Wisconsin does have better players and as bad as the Big Ten is, it is a better conference than the Mountain West Conference. TCU was 3rd and Wisconsin 5th going into that game...hardly a big spread. This was the year of the weak conferences, and TCU in my opinion hadn't beaten anyone to warrant a #3 ranking. Beating Wisconsin was their best win, but that's why it's embarrassing for Wisconsin and The Big Ten...TCU really shouldn't have beaten them.
I would like to think The Big Ten will bounce back, but I'm getting more and more skeptical. Football is now a year-round sport, and in the South they get to practice outside all year, and especially leading up to the bowl games, and I think that makes a difference. Also, a lot of the best players WANT to go to school in the South. Not sure the Big Ten will ever be big in football again.
I just don't get it... when the best handicappers in the world (Vegas) had Wisconsin as 3 point underdogs, I'm curious as to how them covering by 1 point is a terrible and embarrassing loss... if anything, it was poor coaching on Brett Bielema, other than that, a great match up.
I'm curious as to how a team that beat #24 Oregon State and absolutely crushed #5 Utah, goes undefeated and has the best defense in the country isn't worthy of being ranked #3...
Its no doubt that the weather affects the big ten guys more during the one month break than the southern teams, especially when all the BCS games are played in warmer climates... that's not making an excuse for the Big Ten's poor bowl performance, but I'd be curious to see how a team like Alabama would play in Michigan on January 1 instead of Orlando... or how TCU would play in Minnesota rather than Southern California...
Michigan just isn't that good, Michigan State killed them, Wisco killed them, Ohio state killed them... was a really a surprise that Mississippi state did?
Michigan State was straight up embarrassing... that, I can agree with...
But if Ohio State wins, and Iowa beating #12 Mizz, and the way Wisco played, I don't think the Big Ten is in as much trouble as you think.
