I have been looking recently at the old Josh Mcdougal and he was a stud! Does anyone know what he is up to and if he is getting in his old shape? I really would love for him to be a top runner again. Come back Josh!!!!

Lost interest in running.
I actually looked up his facebook today out of curiosity to see what he was up to running wise. I read that he lost his contract with Nike and that he has no structure to his "training" if you can call it that). He is just running when he feels like it and is not really training that hard (compared to what he was doing before). It's a shame to see someone as accomplished as him go through this.
His only shot at the olympics was the marathon, and I don't think it was a great one.
He ran a ton of miles and was still better at the 5k than the 10k.
Anything less than the olympics wouldn't really be much for a guy with the great accomplishments that he has had.
He might as well enjoy himself now, with the training he did I doubt he had much time for fun before.
Ya his facebook info page has one quote on it:
Alas, these are such little things!
No glory in their birth!
Doubt from their common aspect springs—
If God will count them worth.
But here I am not left to choose,
... My duty is my lot;
And weighty things will glory lose
If small ones are forgot.
I am not worthy high things yet;
I'll humbly do my own;
Good care of sheep may so beget
A fitness for the throne.

Can't blame him in a sport that doesn't try to promote itself and actually make any money to support its athletes
There will be a long story on him in the March issue of Running Times.
Here's what I thought when Josh was in HS- he was home schooled and he trained mega miles. Insttead of walking the concrete halls of a high school and sitting in cramped, uncomfortable desks, he was in the conmfort of his home- resting.
It was NOT an unfair advantage, but I siomply felt that there would less room for him to improve after going to college.
Maybe be's just tired from all the miles in HS. I would love to see him come back- if it's what he wants to do.
he improved plenty ran 3:57 mile plus an early career 13:20 5K
I would like to see him come back , maybe he did lose his interest, it happens.
He improved a ton in college. His college career, minus junior xc and and senior track was excellent.
Any 8:48, 4:07 guy (not that there are many) would be thrilled with 3:57, 13:20, xc champ in college, actually all but a few guys like webb, ritz, german, would be happy with that college career. If Hall had that career it would have been a success, same with kennedy.
hall ran 13:16 while in college and was also 2nd in NCAA XC
Please Josh come back you were my hero!!!!
loss of coordination in leg
i think is the issue
horribly frustrating - a nerve ( neuropathy? ) problem
it's not a question of willpower or work ethic

Same as Nate Jenkins. Maybe SUPER high miles lead to loss of coordination in leg.

The 70's just called, they're rolling on the floor.
From one of Mcdougal's comments on his facebook status:
"...running is complicated... not sponsored anymore which is tough... but also breaking into triple digit mpws... so its also not going poorly ;)"
That's actually really good news. I hope he's enjoying himself and things are going his way.
He just needs to pop off one good race for proof that he still has it and he will get picked up. He may not get a huge "salary" or a even a salary at all, but he could get sponsorship in the form of gear and work his way up.
Heard he fired up the old hyperbolic time chamber.

Hahaha
call me an asshole, but what exactly is loss of coordination in one leg? I mean- running is simply really. When Josh needs to push the pace one of his legs drags and goes numb like a stroke victim? Is he unable to race fast because high speeds hurt one leg and he has to stay at a cruise pace? What exactly happens? I've no idea what he is talking about at all. Either way, blabbing about it on the internet and that runnerspace/flotrack video made him a cancer to running sponsors. they don;t want to hear that shit. Just run, baby.
