Runner Haile Gebrsalassie wins Luanda's Saint Sylvester yearend race
Luanda – The Ethiopian runner, Haile Gebrsalassie, representing Kabuscorp do Palanca, won the 55th edition of the Saint Sylvester yearend race of Luanda with 28 minutes.
Maybe this should make the frontpage. Haile wiped the floor with Menjo winning by 30 seconds. He still has it.[quote]long sox wrote:

3. deriba merga 28:48
woman dire tune 32:16
That is...28 minutes for a 10k for Haile? After his current form? For a New Years race? For a race he isn't even really focusing on at all? Destroying Menjo by 30 seconds? Nearing is 38th birthday? Admit it folks, Haile is the best distance runner the world has ever seen.
damn, what happened to menjo?
wow didn't even know Merga was in the field
Haile still has it. Who knows maybe he is still too good at the shorter distances to fully succeed at the marathon

He raced real competition ... :D
I have yet to meet a single human being and student of the sport, in person, that has not claimed Gebrselassie the greatest distance runner to exist. Only those that hide on the Internet claim otherwise, but in person, all admit the truth.

How true.
the 15 year-old Ethiopian runner, Bonsa Diba Direba, finished third with 28 minutes and 37 seconds.
not deriba merga
Bonsa Diba Direba name is that we gone here a lot in 2011,12.....
30 seconds over 10k is too much to count for a legitimate race between athletes of that caliber. 28 minutes is way too slow for those two runners also. This race should not be used to arrive at a conclusion about either of the athletes.
Obviously, someone was tired or injured or not prepared.
15????And he's doing 28:37....He is the next great runner...

What? So races have to be close finishes to be legitimate?
