I agree 100%. If you did the crime, you get punished. Whether it's speeding, smoking marijuana (only once, even), or murdering dogs......if you aren't willing to deal with the punishment, don't do the crime. It really is quite simple.
Whenever people don't get their way, they complain about the gray area. People who want a black and white world are basically people who can't stand the fact that there are people in the world who think differently.
The gray area? You live in Eugene, eh?
No, actually the gray area is the wishy washy area that is created by people who refuse to take a clear stance. Either something is right or it is wrong and I either think or feel one way or another, but not both. Difference of opinion is why there is a black and white area and I am fine with someone else thinking differently than I do so long as they stand firm in their beliefs and opinions. The gray area is for those who are either confused or don't have a backbone.

Isn't living with uncertainty and a lack of clarity necessary for growth at certain points?
Can recognizing that in some areas there are no clear answers take a kind of courage and backbone?

Oh, to be in high school again. Very few things are black and white. The only two I can think of are don't kill a person without a justifiable reason and don't steal from someone without a justifiable reason.
Define the line between flirting and sexual harassment.
It's flirting when I think I can't make money off of his advances. If I think money is to be had, it's sexual harassment.

That's fine but if someone with authority such as a judge doesn't believe that same action is money worthy then they place the line somewhere else.
The gray area is between these lines.
A different judge could think that a wink deserves a penalty and that would widen the gray area.
You need a supreme dictator to set all lines and abolish gray areas.
"You need a supreme dictator..."
Obama?

Even if you had this, the metaphysical fact of a changing world would produce new gray areas immediately.
The OP basically is sick and tired of reality. So he wants to retreat to a fantasy world of pure ideas.
It's idiots like you that surrond yourelf with all the maybes, ifs, and buts that prevent you from ever really accomplishing anything. My reality is that I understand who I am and what I stand for and am williing to stand by it regardless of the consequences. I know what I want and don't care who I insult or offend to get it. So keep wandering around in all that gray area and accommodating to everyone else, but don't be surprised when you never get anywhere.
Fed Up - Now all you have to do is grow up! You sound like the typically idealistic HSer or Jr college enrollee.

Being willing to stand where you are "regardless of the consequences" has had the consequence of making you angry and bitter. So much so that you are willing to call me (who you've never met) an idiot just because I happen to disagree with you.
Try this philosophy of life: reflect on the consequences of your beliefs and adjust them accordingly. You will most likely pass through more moments of uncertainty if you do this. I agree--not a fun place to be. You might even have to admit that you are wrong now and then. But the advantages in terms of personal growth outweigh by a long shot the temporary pain of confronting a gray area every so often.
I assume you are talking about the gray between the yellow on the website?

That's what I thought he was talking about too.
Interesting concept for a troll thread. Nice work.

Like Christine O'Donnell , right? Lying is wrong, so if Anne Frank is in your attic and Hitler asks you "are you hiding any Jews?," you say "Yes, mein Führer, I am!"
Sexual harassment makes the receiver feel
• Bad
• Powerless
• Demeaned
• Ugly
Flirting makes the receiver feel
• Good
• Happy
• Flattered
• Pretty/attractive
• In control
