For men's outdoor track. My predictions are:
800m: Symmonds, Torrence, Hernandez
1500: Webb, Wheating, Manzano
5k: Solinsky, Lagat, Tegenkamp (in that order)
10k: Rupp, Ritz, Curtis
This may be the deepest year in these events ever.
I think Torrence's best shot to make the team is to run the 800 because it's slightly less deep than the 1500. Torrence has run 1:45 and 3:34 but still is probably not good enough to make the 1500 team. Wheating, Lomong, and Manzano may double 800/1500 to ensure they go to Berlin.
The 5k and 10k are going to be ridiculous this year. The only spot that seems up for grabs sees to be the third 10k spot. That's the only spot where you probably don't need to be able to run sub-13. I think it's going to be between Nelson, Curtis, Bumbalough, Asmerom, and Derrick (maybe). Curtis had a big 2010 and is probably quicker than Nelson if he can keep him close.
