I know alot of people on here bash Jim Ryun, because he was burned out and could have been ten million times better if he was under a safer program, but i want to thank him. He's a pioneer in the sport and was one of the leading figures to the running boom. Even though he missed the gold, he still got a silver in the altitude after a bout with mono. You had an incredible work ethic and you are a great role model and a hero to all. Thanks Jim Ryun for doing the impossible and "go with God"

ryun also has held the 800 and 1500 and mile junior record and he also went by the 3k in 7:47 in his 8:25 for 2 miles, his american junior records are 40-45 years old, i wonder if someone will break them before the records 50 year anniversaries?
