I'm pretty sure I'm getting a stress fracture. I can't say for certain, but I've had one before (bone scanned and everything)and I think I'm headed down the same road. It doesn't hurt to run yet, but the area burns and when I find the spot on the front of my tibia the pain is pretty acute and intense if I poke at it. Right now I am icing religiously, but I'm thinking I might just need to take some time off now to avoid additional time off later. Does anyone have experience with this? Would I be saving myself some time or is this a case where broken is broken and the layoff is the same?
Also, I'm only just getting back to semirespectable mileage at about 50mpw in my recovery from the original stress fracture. This one is same leg but different spot. Anyway, at first my stride was all messed up from muscle imbalances, but now it seems back to normal. Is there any chance that I could just keep training and that the issue will go away?
