Danny Macaskill was my favorite video of the year for 2009:

The Chris Solinksky Stanford 10k record event and video was the one for 2010. Mind blowing to have been there and to have been part of it, live. Here is the Youtube highlight, with a soundtrack and announcers who really get it:

Other things of note about the event: Solinksky’s 10k debut. First non-African under 27. Heaviest sub 27 by something like 25 lbs. Second fastest 10k in the world for 2010. Other guys in the race: Obviously Rupp got the (old) 10k record too. Bairu got the Canadian record by something like 20 seconds. Chelanga got the collegiate record by something like 20 seconds. Incredible depth to the race. Among others, he laps Gotcher (Stanford grad who set a PR and who was the fastest American marathoner of 2010!). Four of the world’s five fastest 10ks for 2010 were run in the race!
How is that for a set that demolishes boundaries!
My runner-up video is Rudisha’s 800, which was also an insane race.
