shut up and get over it, be happy Terre Haute exists, because you'll be hard pressed to find a course this good that accomodates everything it does
By your standards, then, the Philadelphia Eagles should be renamed the Philadelphia Pussywillows for moving their game to last night. Or, better yet, they should be removed from the NFL entirely, right?

That's great news! Now I can be with my high school team at their Invite on Saturday and drive down to catch Pre-Nats on Sunday and cheer on our alums!
I guess BYU won't be there this year. Will the date change affect the team turnout?

Hey f***stick, nationals are on a Monday. I don't think having Pre-Nats on a Sunday is that big of a deal.
I wonder how this will affect religiously affiliated schools???
They were moved to Sunday because the 1-AA football game is also homecoming weekend at ISU, which means it would be tough to get a hotel room. Unless, you'd like to stay in Bloomington or Indianapolis?
The problem is that xc continues to get the back seat to every other event that goes on in Terre Haute. Running on Sunday is not a big deal, although it is disrespectful to BYU and others of like mind. The problem is that Indiana State self proclaimed Terre Haute as Cross Country Town USA when their town has never bought into this event like they want us us to believe. If this was truly Cross Country Town USA then the town wouldn't host the Covered Bridge Festival or football game on the same day. Having a football game the same day as pre-nats is nothing new. It happens almost every year adding to the hotel problem. If this truly is Cross Country Town USA then get the other events to move, at least for the future. Didn't Eugene (Track Town USA) move the date of graduation (after it was already scheduled) so they could host track nationals? Move homecoming and make the town move that festival or stop calling yourself Cross Country Town USA.

From my understanding, the NCAA came to Indiana State and asked them to host NCAA's after Oregon failed to come through with a reasonable course. ISU agreed to take on Pre-Nats again.
The years that I've attended Pre-Nats it has been tough to get a hotel room unless I book at least a month ahead. Having homecoming that weekend will prevent most people from being able to stay in Terre Haute on Friday night. I'm guessing they wouldn't have planned homecoming same weekend as Pre Nationals if they knew they'd be hosting again.
Options: Move the covered bridge festival that's been around since the 50s and has over 2 million visitors every year just because some people want to complain its on Sunday instead of Saturday. (The only ppl I sympathize with are the religious schools)
Move homecoming after families have already booked flights, hotels, called off work, etc. Again just because some people want to find something negative about Terre Haute.
Question to you, who do you think the NCAA should have selected to host NCAA's in 2011? hmmmm I have a feeling which course you'll say and I don't necessarily disagree with you
The reason they are having Pre Nats in Terre Haute in 2011 is because that piece of shit town in the northwest could not get it together to host the meet so Terre Haute came through. Terre Haute does an amazing job and loves having the meet there. The football game was scheduled long before this meet was. The covered bridge festival has been going on long before the 1st NCAA meet happened in Terre Haute. Families schedule that time far in advance.
I am definitely for keeping the meet in Terre Haute. If they occasionally want to move it to give the kids some variety then that is fine but they do a better job there than any other place I have seen ncaa's. The course is fair as is the weather. If you go to Wisconsin then the probability of absolute crap weather goes way up. If it goes up to the shithole in the northwest then the weather will be sucky and so will travel for the vast majority of the field.
Terre Haute is central and that is why it is the best. Tucson has hosted at least a few times and that was nice but I think Terre Haute does better. Furman hosted a while back but I know there were/are some rebel flag issues. East coast also makes travel too tough for west coast schools. Kansas also hosted and that was a great site and a TOUGH course. They should look to be one of the alternate sites in off years when Terre Haute is not hosting.
Taco Tuesday is right on-
When Oregon was unable to come up with an adequate CC Course for the NCAA meet - the meet went back to the best avaialable option. I think the runners/coaches/fans should be happy that ISU is willing to cover for Oregon.
In regards to the Sunday date - do these schools not run on Sundays during the season? How is this disrespectful to any religious groups. Is the NBA, NHL, MBL, and NFL all void of religious players?

Oregon came up with a perfectly reasonable course. The f*** sticks at NCAA decided they didn't want it at a horse track because of its ties to gambling. Even though we all know all the NCAA cares about is money, as evidenced by the current OSU football players.
Well both the NCAA and Oregon were foolish for thinking someone who has never even put on a large invite should apply/be given a shot at hosting the NCAA meet.
Establish a course and host large quality meets before applyling for a meet of the magnitude of the NCAA CC Meet.

T&F and XC are not the same, but there are a lot of similarities. Name a school that can do as good a job at putting on the big track meet as Eugene.
The issue about gambling is one that should probably have been considered and is not something the NCAA just suddenly threw in, I do not think.
Running 9 loops on a horse track is not a reasonable course.
Any truth to Louisville getting some push-back on adjusting the course at Tom Sawyer? Audubon Society is apparently up-in-arms over the whole-sale removal of trees to widen the front stretch. Back to Terre Haute in 2012?
Oregon did NOT come up with a reasonable course. The NCAAs reasoning may not have been the best but if NCAA's was held at that crappy horse track that NXN is on that would have been absolutely ridiculous. No coach in the country wanted it there but Oregon's and MAYBE Portlands. My guess is that Rob Connor is a little smarter than that though!

Ever heard of the Olympic Trials?
They have an Olympic Trials for cross country? That's awesome!
Go ahead and name all the D-1 schools that won't compete on a Sunday. BYU and Liberty and...
So those two can go to Chile Pepper instead. What's the big f'in deal? Somebody's got a hard-on about Terre Haute. Cry me a river.
