Should I be disappointed? I really not big on receiving gifts - and I give a lot to charities - but isn't that a bit underwhelming?

Bah humbug
Are you going to do something about it or just moan on LR?
Look at every person to who received a gift from you but gave you no gift in return. If you can't think of a solid reason they didn't give you a gift (i.e. the person is a child, has been recently unemployed long term, etc.) then do not buy a gift for them next year. Obviously you're not important enough to them to be on their mind when shopping season comes around.
my nephew who has two large HD Tvs and 24" MAC - got xbox and 12 videos (I think at $60 each) - I will never buy him another video game ever - he is so spoiled - My mom bought him a $300 globe that was wonderful and he never used.
oh yeah - I got $200 piece of luggage which I will return from my mom since she can't afford. I told her I will buy myself but she insisted I keep
at least you got something - I got zero gifts, no cards, no calls - nadda
That is the spirit of the season.

How does one use a globe? It's neat to look at for like 5minutes and then who cares? There are so many cooler things you could've purchased with that money.
When you buy in to Christmas, you're buying into buying.
Same here. Welcome to fatherhood!
Sound like you are into getting gifts or this shouldn't be an issue.
It's better to give than to receive.
I got a apple scented candle from my 6 year old, a bag of Bugles from my 10 year old,and 5 different boxes of candy from my 13 year old. All of it was purchase with their own money when the 15 year old took them shopping. As for the 15 year old, she took them time to crochet me a little German shepherd dog that looks like my real German shepherd. My husband got me an Ipod shuffle. I'm very blessed.

the bag of bugles.. so cute i can't stand it!
I guess I should have posted this on the other thread about what you got for Christmas. As for giving and not getting back, my husbands family was told by his sister and her husband that no one was to buy presents for each other because some of us are going through tough financial times, including my family. I can't stand not to give anything, so I made up some home made goodie baskets and personalized calendars for the grandparents of my kids. At the get together, everyone brought gifts of one kind or another to give to each other. The only family who refused to participate was the one who tried to dictate to others what to do. What is funny is that they are very well off, the only ones who are. He is a partner in a very successful law firm. I just thought it was interesting how the rest of us "poor" ones figured out a way to think of each other and give from our hearts because we wanted to. It doesn't matter how much something is worth as long as it is given with love.
I didn't get nothing. I had to pay $50 and pick up the garbage.

casual shirt and a pen. Some perspectives change as you age.
Bum deal. Time to trade in your friends and family for a better lot.
