I've read that if you stress the anaerobic system too much early in the season, it hinders the development of the aerobic system(feel free to correct me on this if I'm wrong). So I was wondering if swimming is an anaerobic exercise. Because if it is anaerobic and it's true that anaerobic exercise hinders aerobic development, then wouldn't it be a bad idea to swim during base building? I feel like this is something basic that would have been covered on this board a million times but I couldn't find anything on it.
