Hey all, and happy holidays. I hope everyone had a good weekend, enjoying in which ever way you prefer.
Great week for me this week. I went into the podiatrist on Wednesday, and got a complete surprise -- my fracture has been healing very well, and I am cleared for running -- about 5 weeks ahead of the original projection (so 7 weeks off, instead of 12). I'm pretty darn happy.
That being said, I'm not running yet. Basically, the original projection was 12 weeks, with 6 weeks of aircast and no weight-bearing workouts (just pool running), and then 6 weeks of walking+cross training. Since I've just come out of the aircast, and haven't done any exercise that is weight bearing during that time, I've decided to take another 1-2 weeks, to add in fast walking and the elliptical, to make a more gradual transition back to running. Depending on how things feel, I may start some walk/running this week.
I'll be back later to update with this week's training.
