Just bought a pair of these, has anyone used them for their regular mileage? I'm light, and don't run many miles, probably about 30 a week, but do a lot of high intensity work. How suitable do you think these flats are for this sort of work. Thanks in advance
I used the Hyperspeed 3 as my primary trainer, doing about 70 mpw on the road. They did well. The only problem I had was that the forefoot outsole is foam and wore a away quicker than other parts because I supinate. But it is a quality shoe.
Tried them, wasn't for me for mileage. May work for you. Just make sure to transition slowly into using them, especially if your used to more traditional trainers. Otherwise a great show I'll use for workouts, very flexible and comfortable.
I use a lightweight trainer already, and have never had problems with injuries. As I said already I do more intense stuff rather than heavy mileage. Anyone used them for racing? Any idea how many miles I'm gonna get out of them roughly? Thanks again
I use them for everything from daily training to 5K to the marathon. Awesome shoe. I throw them out after 400-500 miles but you could get more out of them.
I've been using them everyday for about a month on approximately 70 miles a week. They've been great for me so far but it's actually more cushioning than I'm used to running in so your experience might differ.

For me, they're light enough so I don't mind. I'm fairly light for my height. I don't bother counting the miles on them, but they last a while. As long as the tread is good enough, I'll just keep running in them and that depends on how many road/trail miles you do. Not looking for cushioning obviously and the cushioning on flats doesn't really ever break down. When I get around to buying a new pair I'll probably get something lighter and flimsier, but these have been good to me. They're close to becoming my everyday trainer. I still alternate w/the Mana, (and every so often the Asics Piranhas) but am using the Hyperspeeds more.
I'm on my 3rd pair. My only problem has been the rapidity of outsole wear. This last pair, our local running store modded them early on by laying on an outsole of Nike Waffle (like from the Nike Elite back in the early 80's) which has extended the life considerably. I love the Hyperspeed. One of the best shores/racers I've ever worn. I run intervals; tempos; and races up to a marathon in the shoe. Although, I do not run all my daily miles in them (I'm old - can't handle it).
I have used the hyperspeed 3s and 4s for all my road miles for the past year or two. I was alternating them with the NB MT100s when I was running more trails, but have been sticking to the roads lately so use them for pretty much all my miles now...
I am usually somewhere between 50-70 mpw, but focus mainly on marathons so do not do much high intensity stuff.
I usually get a new pair after 500 miles or so, but current pair are quite a bit over that now... the outsole is indeed pretty worn down on the forefoot, but they are still holding up...
I liked the pair I had ok for normal training (~80 miles a week, maybe half of which was on pavement). I had been wearing flats for about 5 years before I was using them, though, so if you're new to the whole flats thing, you might want something a little beefier to transition first. Mine lasted ~800 miles or so before they got raggedly, but I managed about 1000 out of them before I had to throw them away. The last week in them were awful, though.
