I currently run in speedstars but am considering trying the lunarglide for mileage. Anyone run in both before? Whats the main difference?

PS: I land on my midfoot/forefoot but minimalism didn't work for me. Getting over some PF and AT problems.
I like the lunarglides... the v2 are lighter and have a cleaner toebox than the v1. If you are not used to nike then they might not feel like a neutral running shoe. I find them to be great for long runs, not too soft and not too stiff.
Coming off of the Speedstar, you'll be better off in the LunarElite2, which is either out or coming out soon.
If you want to stay in the Asics line but want just a little more cushioning, try the Asics DS Skyspeed.

Hows the Lunar Elite 1? The 2 isn't out yet in my area and I like to try shoes on before I buy.
Upper is a flywire sheet, and crinkles up on top of the foot. New one is going to have a zig-zag line of flywire hittting the same spots on the laces, so you get the same lock down, but without the wrinkling feeling when the foot flexes.
Have you been running in any of the lunar models? What have you used them for and how do you like them? Are you a forefoot striker? Thanx
Buying new running shoes is harder than shopping for a new car
I currently have a pair of the LunarSwifts that I'm using, but I'm only using them because I bought them and don't want to waste shoes. I thought they were going to be much lighter than they were; no weight was listed, otherwise I would have gone for the LunarElites. I'm a minimalist, mid-foot striker with good form, and the Swifts are my heaviest shoe right now by at least 2 ounces per shoe. I like them well enough, but it's much more shoe than I'm used to wearing. More shock absorption than the Speedstars for sure, but not as smooth of a ride.
I work in a running store, and while I've never owned the LunarGlides, I've tried them on our treadmill. I have owned and immensely enjoyed a pair of Speedstars. I have a pair of the current model on order, and am greatly anticipating their arrival. Our Asics rep was in the store the other day and showed us the DS Skyspeed; I was impressed. It's a bit heavier than the Skyspeed, but substantially better cushioned. The ride is equally smooth and responsive. I like the seamless upper of the new Speedstar, but I'm a Pearl Izumi fan, so that for what it's worth.
Speaking of Pearls, if you like lighter weight stuff that still has good cushioning, look into a pair of the Pearl Izumi SyncroFuel. It's got a seamless upper like the new Speedstar, but with a little bit more substance to the shoe. It's a bit firmer; too firm for me personally. But the cushion you get for the weight is substantial.
I dismissed the skyspeed because I thought it had LESS support than the speedstar but if it has more I'll check it out when it comes to town.

I was at the Nike Outlet store today (Boxing Day in Canada is Dec 26, the equivalent of Black Friday) and picked up the LunarGlide for $60 and the LunarElites for $38.
Went for a run in the glides and my achilles was irritated and even my right knee a bit. Took them off after 25 minutes and ran 4 minutes in the Elites...MUCH BETTER. I'll be cleaning up the glides and returning them if the Elites hold up on my next run. I'm really surprised at the huge difference between these two shoes.
