Ha, kidding of course, but how great for him, bet this goes on the mantle right next to his Olympic stuff....How old is the man now?
I heard that Joe Newton has no true age. That he is more of a timeless concept, sewn into the fabric of humanity.
I saw him speak for the first time last spring, at Marcus's "Day of Distance" at Villanova. He held about 200 seasoned coaches spellbound for 90 minutes. If you ever have the chance, don't miss him speak, truly inspirational.
The two most inspirational coaches I've ever met were Joe Newton and his good friend Joe Vigil. Both prove that, to use the title of Joe's book, Motivation is the Name of the Game.
What strikes me about both men is their integrity. I respect their knowledge of the x's and o's of training, but that pales in comparison to the extraordinary example they provide as leaders, coaches, and teachers.
