The idea for this originally started in vdawg's thread asking for the full Beijing Olympics 5000m race seen in this topic:
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=3792560&page=8
Eventually a link to the full race was posted, available for download. Soon after I offered up a torrent for the marathon race and then lots of videos were shown. Since the other topic title was misleading for what was happening in the thread, a new topic was suggested to being made. I'm hoping to continue that thread and have other posters put up some more races.
Since the letsrun boards don't allow editing of posts, it'll be hard to find videos if/when this topics gets a lot of posts. So I'm asking you to format your posts like below and to bold the titles of the races to make them easier to spot. I assume if the topic gets too big, another one will be made with all the links in the first post.
Another issue is not being able to post a lot of links in one post. One way to get around that is to chop off the domain name and just make it clear to paste it to the beginning of each of the links for the races.
Splitting a large file into smaller chunks with WinRar
For the longer races (half-marathon - marathon), the files are usually too large to be uploaded to a site for download. It's better to split the video file up into smaller chunks, upload the separate pieces, and then rejoin them. You can do this using WinRar. Download WinRar and install it. If WinRar is installed to your computer shell, you can simply right click the video file you want to split up and click "Add to Archive..." If not, just open up WinRar and locate the video file and then add it to an archive.
A little box will pop up. All you need ot do is specify how big each segment will be in the bottom-left most corner of the box. You can simply put a number like 200,000,000 for "200 megabytes" or larger or smaller depending on the size of the hosting site. 200,000,000 is less than 200 megabytes obviously, but that's besides the point, no need to make this more complicated than it has to be. Just split it up however you like and then press okay.
WinRar will then compress and split the file and each will be automatically named in sequential order. Now you can upload the segments for all of us to watch!
Extracting multiple WinRar files into a single file
Make sure all of the Winrar files for the video are in the same folder on your computer. Simply extract the very first file in the series and WinRar will automatically join them together into a single video file.
Video hosting sites
Please don't upload to sites that recompress the video, one of the reasons for this thread is so that we can DOWNLOAD the races to our harddrive, not stream them (like Youtube). Though there are methods to download from flash video hosting sites, the video quality of the race will be greatly diminished and it's not as easy to download as simply uploading to a download site.
Google Fileserve for the site that has been used mainly up to this point. Again, I'm not posting a link because I need to post some further below.
Playing video files
Apparently in the last thread some people were having trouble playing some of the videos. All I can suggest is to download the latest codec packs for your respective video player or download VLC player. Just Google it, I can't post a link because I have to limit the amount of links in this post. VLC player will play pretty much any video file.
Hopefully that will clear up most of the questions regarding uploading/downloading. Now for the collection of videos posted so far in the other thread:

Put
in front of all the broken links above and put the isohunt domain name in front of the torrent links.
If anybody else has any video to upload, that would be GREAT! Stuff like 2008 olympic trials marathon, Geb's marathon world record, Rotterdam with 2:04:27 performances, etc. It would be much appreciated. If you don't understand torrents, just use the download links instead; torrents just allow for interruptions in the download in case your internet decides to go out.
