I used to enjoy it until I had to quit boozing. Now I agree with the OP - what a pain in the ass it is - try not drinking over the holidays (at all) and you'll realize how something can be both painful and boring at the same time.

My family (extended as well) doesn't drink at all and we manage to have a great time during the holiday season. Maybe you just need a better family.

I used to hate xmas after my folks got a divorce. Traveling sucked and o was envious of friends who stayed in one spot. Now that I'm much older and have a family I love it. Best pay of the year.

Now the hardest party of the season I'd wrapping gifts. I just don't feel like taking the time to make it perfect. So I make it a challenge. Purple seem to like that a little bit more. I do. Merry xmas

ok, unlike most of you I actually do use the vast majority of tools in my tool shed. I'm always fixing things, if you owned a home (and not an apartment) OR knew how to fix things, as I do, and not just call someone whenever something breaks then you would understand why those tools are not useless, only you are.

Its almost universally true that the set of presents usually associated with men, tools, cars, tvs, food, all have some value, while the gifts usually associated with women, books, clothing, jewelry, bullcrap have questionable value.

If anything it says alot about how we value women in our society, and how we value men. A true feminist would be arguing for women to have power tools for instance, and not another scarf. That way she would be self reliant.

I for one believe in the division of labor. You get in trouble with the law, you call a lawyer. You get sick, you call a doctor. Your house gets screwed up, you call a plumber/carpenter/electrician. You fail to understand the modern economy, you call an economist.
