what do you think is better for high schoolers to have better results come spring time?
do you think 1600/3200'ers would benefit more from winter base, and 800/1600 would benefit more from indoor track?
would love your opinion! thanks.

Track runners would be good go for indoor. Not so much cross country runners. long distance train is important and indoor season takes away from building miles.
nice day!
Answer: Both. Build a base whilst running indoors. How? Simple.
Run twice a day, everday if possible.
Run 1 tempo run, 1 interval session, and 1 long run
Tempo run should be ~4-6 miles.
Interval session should be comfortable. Maybe 5x1 mile at 5:20 pace with a lap jog recovery, or 2 minute jog if you are not running on a track.
Not sure about the long run. 90 minutes sounds pretty good. Yeah, build up to 90 minutes.
Run some indoor meets here and there, but don't obsess over it. Use them as motivation to keep training, but have fun.
+1
Another thing. American runner dont so much run fast as they do alot of races. So try to train better ok?

That's what we do. No pressure races and they give you a little speed. Our indoor meets are fun, kids love them.
Very funny!

Try to do both at the same time, as mentioned above. Only really care at all if you have a state schampionship and if you have ashot at making/ doing well.
