I'm a parent who knows little of the sport but something doesn't sound right...
My daughter, a fairly good XC runner ( first season - did rather well - ran in a national meet) was rested for about 2 weeks after the XC season.... has started training again with easy runs, no track work and is now back up to 60 min.
She had lower leg issues the last few weeks of the season ( knee, achilles, etc.).. now relatively healthy... her first indoor race is Jan 2. Her Indoor coach ( not the XC coach ) wants to race her at 300m her first race back, saying she needs speed work. There are no scheduled practices over the Holiday break.... it just doesn't sound right.....
