Hi, for the last 10 seasons I've been running (xc, indoor, outdoor, xc etc..) I've averaged about 75-85 mpw (building up to it and tapering). Anyway, say I wanted to run around 50-60 mpw during this winter and spring season, will I see a big decrease in performance? I run 3ks and 5ks and am thinking maybe I could work on speed and rest this track season, and then in the summer ramp it up to 90ish mpw to get ready for cross country. Any opinions on this?
I'm a sophmore in college by the way, 9:20 3k and 16:02 5k
