Threads that ask about the running scenes in different cities are often very helpful for finding out great spots to run, hooking up with a group, shoe stores, what tracks are open to the public, etc. However, oftentimes, the racing scene is completely ignored.
I'm a runner who likes to race, and race a lot (generally at least every other week). Obviously this is somewhat of a hypothetical exercise, since I can't just up and leave at a whim, but if access to a solid variety of quality road/track/xc races were your prime criteria for moving somewhere, where would you move?
The two obvious scenes that jump to my mind are southern California and the greater Boston area. What does letsrun think? Does your corner of America beat these places cold? Have any hidden gems you want to share?
