i had this exact fracture and solution (screw) my junior year of high school (middle of xc season). i am a sophomore in college now and it does not bother me at all anymore.
junior year i tried to scrap together an outdoor season and was pretty crippled by the end of the season. senior year i was close to hurt again at the end of each season. took the summer and most of the next year off.
6/7 months ago i started training again, started slow and for the last month or so ive been running faster than i ever have. i think the key was the year almost completely off from racing and training.
since you had a more serious surgery (i only have one screw), you need to take time off from training and racing. like a lot of time. completely off.
the only thing you can give it is time. swim and keep your core stuff up during but the only thing that helps stress fractures is time.
hope this helps!
