Your title is misleading- thankfully.
Sorry im lost on the running front tho!
I just googled. I'm sure there is more. Good luck.
Help! I came to this city yesterday with my french roommate on break from my study abroad program in Valencia. We didn't have a plan, so basically walked around until we found an available hostel where we got a 2-person room at about 10pm last night. Then we asked the front desk where the nightlife was, and the spanish guy who worked there told us to go to the El Barrio area. I left my key in the room as I figured we'd just come back together.
So, long story short, we finally catch a taxi and ride about 10 minutes to get there, the cabbie drops us off and we first go to a convenience store so I could pregame a little (frenchie just got a croissant) then we finally head into a bar around 12:30am. There's a lot of spanish people, mainly guys with a few cuties here and there, after we get a couple beers and free shooters (sunday night special) we see a table with some american girls in the back and we sit at the table next to them. Anyway, they were apparently just finishing up a study abroad program in france, along with this italian girl with them, and were traveling around spain for about 10 days. A couple of them wanted to practice their french with my friend, so I ended up talking to one of the two cute ones who was happy talking in english.
Pretty typical night so far, right? We had been talking to these girls for about an hour, when all of a sudden one of them who's pretty drunk suggests we play "Never have I ever." We're all down, and pretty soon it starts turning, well, you know...eventually the girl who started it said "Never have I ever done an eiffel tower." If you don't know what that is, I'm sure you can google it. Well, she and frenchie drink without a thought, and the rest of us just sit there a little stunned. Then she takes out a pen and writes something on a napkin and gives it to him (turned out to be her hostel and room number). Then she said "Let's go" to her friends and ran outside, who were obliged to chase after her. Anyway, frenchie is all giddy about what has just transpired and is talking about how he will show her a "real french man." But he's happy and orders a couple more rounds, which I of course drink. We end up then talking to a table with some Australian guys who are backpacking through Europe, who say we should go with them to a discotheque a block or so down. Frenchie's still on a high about the girl and I figured it might be fun, so we get there about 3am. The place isn't crowded, but pretty busy for a Sunday night, and we end up ordering quite a few drinks at which point I more or less blacked out.
Well, all I can really remember from that point on is us walking out of the disco, it's almost dawn and my roommate almost goes into a panic attack when we get outside and starts cursing in a mixture of English and French, pulls out the napkin, looks at it, then bolts off in the distance. I had to think for a second to even remember what city I was in and where I was staying, but for the life of me couldn't remember the hostel name or where it was, just that judging by the taxi ride it must have been close to two miles away. I was feeling like shit, incredibly hammered, and apparently decided my best option was to walk into a church where I woke up on the floor to someone poking me on the shoulder about 1 this afternoon. With about 17 euros on me and no idea where I was staying, I went into an internet cafe and tried to look up where it is I was staying, but couldn't find it. I sent frenchie a facebook message, then wandered around trying to find our place and eventually went to an information center area and described what I could recall about the hostel, but they couldn't help me. Then I got a kebab sandwich and have been back at the internet cafe down to 5 euros. What the hell do I do?! Letsrun please help me!
First off, Alicante is a very beautiful place.
Second, I did not have too much luck when I was there this summer finding a good place to run. I ran along the pier area, and found a dirt park that is almost 800m around (pretty small for a "park")down by the water as well...I would go down there and painfully try and crank out 6 miles just doing circles. It sucked.
Ultimately, it was a difficult place to run because of street lights and traffic. Good luck, and let me know if you find any places.
i'm really lost in alicante! wrote:
