Ok, let me get straight to the point. I have not ran consistently for over 2 years. My current weekly mileage averages around 5-6 miles. My long run could not be over 6 miles at this point. I have completed a trail marathon last year on this same amount/lack of mileage so I am not totally incapable of doing distances on little mileage. I am doing a 50 miler in March and I need to get my mileage up as fast as I can without damaging myself. I am not looking to compete at this race, only run/complete it. I was planning on starting my mileage out near 24-26 miles per week and want to know wether I should go with shorter doubles for 6 days a week or do longer single runs 4 days a week with the traditional long run? I want to do this for 4 weeks until i can get my feet back under me and then get to adding miles cautiously. I have looked at starting out slower, but with the time I have available I figured it would be better to get at least 24-26 miles per week than starting at 12-18. Thanks for any advice/ constructive criticism. For those who would advise against this, what would your solution be?
Thanks
