There was an interview a while back with a bunch of Kenyans living in a house in London, and they said they enjoyed a McD with fries for lunch as a treat. Can't remember the source.

The Kenyans on my team eat Mcdonalds. One of them won't eat any fast food besides Mcdonalds.
I recall Tegla Loroupe saying she loved Big Macs.
You can eat anything you want when you're averaging 180-220 mpw.
Considering that there are no McDonalds in Eritrea, Kenya, or Ethiopia, I'd wager that the athletes that still live in those countries do not eat it when abroad.
I used to train with some Kenyans who loved McDonalds.
I knew some as well, and for the most part they enjoyed their ugali and stews. Mcdonalds was certainly on the menu for some snacking. One guy loved the fries, but it was not an often meal for them.

Why wouldn't they eat it when abroad?

Outside of the USA, in some countries, McDs is very expensive. I ate at McDs in Lausanne, Switzerland several times and paid $20. The chimps there pack the McDs every Sat and Sun. In East Germany the cool dudes and girls with new cars hang at McDs on weekend nights.
