If you wear a shoe than you are not a minimalist. I am sick of hearing about how minimalist someone is. A shoe is a possession and shoes like Vibrams are expensive (which is the opposite of minimalism).
I wear racing flats for all of my runs (130 mile weeks). I am not a minimalist. I wear a shoe.

I'm glad someone could articulate my thoughts. A guy I used to train with is a true minimalist in that he has as few possessions as possible but he trained in clunky shoes because that's just what he had. I hate when people throw the word minimalist around as an excuse to buy another product.

There is a case to made that 'minimal' is not zero in common parlance. For example if someone tells me they have minimal insurance on their car I would interpret that not as zero, but as liability only and the minimum required by law. Minimal clothing to me is a thong or speedo, not naked.
you can call it whatever you want. It is pretty obvious to me what a person means when they refer to minimal shoes. Who died and made you dictionary?

I wouldn't worry about banning a word with many alliterative syllables - it'll be too difficult to pronounce after a run in the cold anyway.
