The guys at the bottom of this list qualified by finishing in the top ten of the 2008 US Champs. Since there are only "A" qualifiers, will these guys get their way paid even though they ran close to 2:22 in 2008? Good for them if they do get their way paid. If any of these guys are out there, do you plan on going to Houston in 2012?
It is my understanding that a top 10 at the US Champs is equivalent to an 'A' standard, so I would think they would get their way paid. The 2008 US Champs at the Twin Cities Marathon was on a nasty day with a significant net headwind. Twin Cities is not a pancake course either, so those individuals are probably easily capable of hitting the 2:19:00 on a faster course (like Houston) and a better day.
looking at the list in regards to those at the bottom, the last 3 who raced their way in without a time (fazil, eberly, cele) are all quality names that (without any searches) i would guess are fully capable of running qualifying times at any of the distance.
also, i consider myself a pretty close follower of the sport but was suprised to see the name jeff eggleston so high up with 2 super times. i honestly can't say i've even ever heard of the guy. what's his story (short version will do)?
