Grand Valley held an indoor meet this evening to kick off their season. 5 lady lakers hit the NCAA Auto Standard in the 5k, and 8 ran under 17:09. The way it looks it will take the Auto Standard to make the field!

Relax.
Junior Varsity.
Weight thrower is ranked number one after one throw.....they are on their way to another national title
Indoors is at altitude. Wouldn't count on any sea-level distance runners. That's not to say that they won't do well, but I'd hate to be relying on them...
1 Kinney, Monica JR Grand Valley 16:25.82L
2 Maceratini, Megan SR Grand Valley 16:38.18A
3 Creutz, Eileen SR Grand Valley 16:40.62A
4 Nowak, Julia SO Grand Valley 16:43.84A
5 McCarthy, Katherine SR Grand Valley 16:47.00A
6 Cieslak, Kylen SR Grand Valley 16:52.68P
8 Vickers, Jessie JR Grand Valley 16:58.39P
Serious question -- how many D1 women's teams could put 4 under 16:45 and 7 under 17:00? After nationals I thought GVSU would be maybe top-25 in D1, now I'm thinking top-20 or higher.

You care enough to post on here. and obviously people will be interested. In case you didnt know, there are people out there who do find interest in divisions other than division 1.
Wow, that is solid! I run for a D1 school that just missed making NCAAs this year, and I think Grand Valley could have definitely made D1 nationals this year...
GVSU consistantly kicks the butt of D-I schools that come and run in the Turf Building. In all events. They are legit.
I don't know if they would have made it, but they would have been close. They raced at Penn State and lost to Miami-Ohio. Miami-Ohio was MAC Runner-up (by quite a bit) to Toledo. Toledo went on to make it and finished 28th. They probably would have made it and finished about 30th or even 31st.
Gotta remember that D2 nationals was extremely late this year, don't know when the race was, but it's possible that GV was resting or at least not as sharp. Good info though, that at least proves more or less that they wouldn't have been a top 15 team or anything.
great result. congrats to them
There have been some shady times out of the grand valley. I bet that track is a little short.
A little short? It is 300 meters of sheer gold. Its better than running outdoors.

Dumbass.
why has Grand Valley never had one of their kids break through post collegiately? Seems like they have incredible amounts of collegiate success but afterward....... who was the girl a few years back? 15:30 5k girl??
You must be referring to Mandi Zemba, who ran a 15:39 in her post collegiate days at the pan am games. By the way, she has had two kids, cant be easy balancing training and being a full-time mom.
