thank goodness you wrote this! we can only hope he gets your message. i'm sure he has been completely lost without your advice.

I wish people would stop referring to Ritz/Webb/Hall/Teg as young; I would not call them old, but they don't qualify for the young tag anymore. When our atheletes leave the NCAA system they are alreay 22/23, which is only 2-3 years from their physical peak.

What would you call Allyson Felix and Sanya Richards, who are only about a year older than Rupp and Wheating?

It's relative, hence the choice of the words "still young." Young enough to pursue the track and right at "peak" age, roughly.

It's because everyone first heard about them in their high school days. People tend to think of people being the same as when they first saw/heard about them. Therefore, they think about Webb, Ritz. and Hall as high school boys. I still think of Kara Goucher as Kara Wheeler of the University of Colorado. Can you look at Macaulay Culkin and not think of a ten year old boy, at least for a moment?

Both of those ladies are over two years older than Wheating.

He's probably spending time with his wife, have you seen the lady? Drop dead gorgeous.

I am glad he's doing at least some cross country, as I think that's his best event. Hopefully he goes for the world title as well.

I hope he runs world XC although not likely since he is supposedly doing a spring marathon, Boston would be cool but after the last one I'm thinking it might be better to do London to drop a fast time for a much needed confidence booster

Indeed sir, IMO at least. Saw her after a race in Colorado once, I quietly whispered to myself, "well done Ritz, well done". Heard she was damn fast too.

I doubt any of you know what you're talking about and wouldn't ever be able to coach Dathan to a time faster than his Highschool PRS

ya know he has a 4 month old baby at home. might be a lot else going on in his life

if only everyone could be as open as say Ryan Hall, its crazy how I can learn everything about a say Cliff Lee, but cant dont even know where any runners really train at, or what their schedule it. what is the big code of secrecy, u have a guy like J.Torres, saying...I like to be under the radar, well fans do really want to hear what is going on with u guys, hows training going, etc...promote ur self, we really want to hear u struggled thru a 10miler this morning.

Nice to know that not only can you predict the future of the financial markets, you know more about what is best for Ritz's career than he and his advisors do.

he is probably as bitter about his NYC performance as any athlete who falls far short of his expectations and he may also be regretting all the talk prior to races. you put a lot of pressure on yourself if you talk publicly and honestly about what you expect to run in a given race. I agree that he should go back to xc and track, since he is relatively far better at those than the marathon, but I still think that he will figure this marathon out some day.
