I am really lost at the logic of some of the recent posts that I have read regarding Kara Goucher and her comeback and attempt to medal in London.
I have stayed away from those threads but at the same time they have provoked me enough to start this thread. I've read several times where many think she will medal and she's yet to even secure a spot on the team.
London has 16 women running that have personal best times faster than Kara Goucher's best after 3 attempts, one being the World Championship Race last August.
Obviously all of the women who have ran faster didn't set their best times recently, but still they've run a heck of a lot faster at one point in their careers.
Considering Boston will be her 4th and the trials will be her 5th, who "seriously" thinks she can medal in London, if she even makes the team?
I am not a troll, but instead actually asking a serious question. I am in the seemingly minority camp that Desi will beat her in Boston and even in the trials, but I don't see her medaling in London, although I'd give her more of a chance than Goucher based off her marathon progression since she started.
I know what DK did and her bronze medal, but her credentials were way better that Goucher's sub 2:26 and to be honest, her 3rd place finish at the Olympics didn't surprise me in the least.
So then, why do so many of you think she actually has a chance at medaling? She got wasted in Beijing by 9 women in front of her and one was an American who got the bronze. In the process she set a pr. What gives? Are a lot of you guys just basing things off looks and you "want" her to medal or because just because she's American?
Very confusing for a running board.
