I'll be driving to the Grand Canyon from the Denver area, going west along I-70 and than south along the eastern side of Utah. I figure I-70 through the Rockies should be pretty cool, but I'm wondering if anyone has specific sites I should plan to get out of the car and enjoy a bit. Also, what are good places to see in south eastern Utah? I'm going with my girlfriend who's from another country and has not been able to really see any of America other than a few airports and the city in which we go to school, so I'd like for her to see as much and as many cool places as possible.
Also, the drive is about 11 hours. I figure we'll spend one day driving and site seeing, stay overnight somewhere near the GC, spend a day AT the grand canyon, and then drive back. Is that too short? Should I plan on two days at the canyon? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
