Probably Shorter. Interesting question. They all have their enticements, well, not all....

Hate to be nitpicky, but "Marathon" wasn't the name of the Greek warrior you're thinking of. "Marathon" was the town/plain where the battle was fought.

For my answer: either Shorter and his group, the Florida TC, or with Bill Rodgers at the height of the GBTC.

I have a friend who has created, over a few years, a training group of five or six very hot, young, fast girls. No other guys. He meets them at races. He doesn't really care much about his races, but is competitive enough to be near the top women so he can talk to them after the race. He has loads of stories about the training sessions. He seems very happy and not interested in training with any of the above "names." Having met his "harem," I would choose any three of his training partners.
