I was watching a high school race, and saw a kid wearing the vibrams. So it lead me to ask would most coaches allow this?

Vibrams are shoes.
Some of my kids like to run repeats barefoot on the grass. I don't mind the mechanics of it, I just get nervous they will step on something.
I allow my kids to do barefoot striders and 10-15 minutes of easy barefoot jogging on our turf field. I would not allow them to do a full distance run barefoot, and I would not allow them to race barefoot (it is against the rules for one). I would also recommend they not race in vibrams. Spikes are better.

Allow?
That's not coaching that's micro-management!
Recommend! That's coaching.
In high school (in 2004, before the barefoot fad), my coach encouraged us to do our strides and drills barefoot.
Nothing else though.
All kids run barefoot, why start a thread asking the question?
