I happened to notice today that in my sent mail folder there is an email to everyone on my contact list telling everyone I know that they should go to buy cheap crap from a place called
. Now, I'm not worried about anyone I know actually doing this. I'm sure they all have good enough spam filters to weed something like this out and even if they don't, it's a pretty obvious piece of spam, so I'm sure they're all smart enough to figure it out.
While I'm not concerned about the implications of what they sent, I'm a bit pissed that a company would hack into my email. Is there something I can do? Hacking into a person's email is illegal, correct? Is there someone I can report this to, and if so, will they be able to do anything of significance? I imagine that they could pretty easily fine the IP address of the computer that logged into my account and the business that is behind it is pretty obvious, as they are advertising for themselves. I'd like to see the bastards thrown in prison, but it's not really worth my time to report if nothing is going to happen.
Any good way to handle it, or should I just change my password and forget about it?
