why isn't oregon hosting anymore? will it continue to be held in Terre Haute with the exception of 2012 Louisville? please post the story from the press conference.
What a shit place to have nationals! They should keep them central somehow. But maybe try places like St. Louis, Cleveland, Memphis, or Nashville. Why do they always have it in Terre Haute? (I ran there in college and dont see the attraction)
Central? you do realize that St. Louis is less than 200 miles from Terre Haute? In the grand scheme of the size of the country that is very central. Get over yourself, ISU does a great job with the meet and I am glad they got it over Oregon. Its nice to see a small school do a better job doing something than the larger wealthy schools every once in a while.
uo blew the logistics for 2011 and left thousands of people holding worthless airline tickets and pre-paid hotels. that effing white shirted guy with camo mormon undergarments at uo t&f really screwed everyone this time. i hope vin gets hired as the next usatf ceo so he can take his dumb eff stanford weenies out of eugene.

I'm glad it's going back to Terre Haute. I really don't think it should move until someone puts on an invitational of similar size and does a better job than what happens with the ISU crew.
Ha! this coming from someone who ran in the absolute $hithole of America, Carbondump, Illinois, Hilarious! SA, you're just jealous that ISU gets to host an NCAA championship event. You should be glad an MVC school has become a regular host. Get over your jealousy

Louisville is going to be awful and everyone will realize how much better Terre Haute is. Terre Haute as a city is god awful, the course is fantastic. Louisville as a city is pretty cool, the course if god awful. As a spectator going to watch a cross country race I would much rather go to Terre Haute.
The place it needs to go is Madison, WI. Great city, great course.
I was throwing names out there of decent size cities somewhere in the central US. These places are easy to get in and out of and have more to offer for the fans outside of running (I guess Terre Haute has French Lick and Larry Bird) These decent size cities have to have a nice, challenging parks or a golf course to hold a xc meet at. Madison would be cool, probably running through a foot of snow, but great running community and neat city. Its unfortuante they dont move it more often, and screw Oregon. (and yes I'm very jealous of Oregon as well as Terre Haute and ISU)

Very, very rarely does Madison have snow on the ground in late November and especially not a foot, but there would certainly be a better chance of snow and cold than farther south obviously.
Speaking for "God Awful" himself Slauki you have much to be jealous of. Don't you realize why the NCAA and XC fans across the country prefer a place like the Gibson course? It's very unique in that it's sole purpose is for running cross country meets - it's not a golf course 90% of the time, it's not a park 90% of the time. It's a XC course 100% of the time and those people at ISU happen to be pretty good at putting on XC meets, seeing as how that's all they do...
Oregon wanted the meet to be ran inside a horse track - well the NCAA shot that down because it's also an off track betting location and the track didn't want to shut that down. Not to mention that course is a joke, they have a hard enough time hosting the Nike Cross National (high school) meet on that course let alone the NCAA Championship meet.
So similar to the great XC course in Lawrence, KS? I like that (real XC courses), and true about Wisconsin, you hear more about mud than snow at the xc courses up there. I'm sure there are many small schools, like ISU, that would do a great job putting on a meet for that kind of money! I'm not knocking the course, I'm knocking Terre Haute and them getting nationals once again.
I haven't personally been at the course in Terre Haute so maybe I'm wrong, but from watching it on TV/Internet, it just looks like big loops around a pasture.
I would rather see something a bit more challenging/varied/scenic with some real hills, changes in surface, etc. Cross shouldn't just be just like a track 10k but on grass.
I agree dl.
It should rotate from regional course to regional course.
I want to watch it but can't miss the time it would take to fly or drive 15 hours.
Why not try the Long Beach Golf Course ? PAC-10 XC runners were able to fly from home in the A.M., run their races, and fly out the same day, without getting a car nor a hotel. Jet Blue and Southwest fly there. If you wanna bring a whole krew you can stay in L.A. the whole week and go to the beach and get wasted.
Does anybody know the regional sites that are not already online. I believe the rest of 2011 should have been announced with 2012 regional sites as well.
salukialum - that is great the cities you proposed have stuff to do for people that aren't fans of running. But seriously, nationals weekend is about cross country. you coming to watch a cross country race or is there something bigger you plan to go to?
dog lover - gibson has a deceiving look. go run the course, then post.
screw th - if nationals was on a saturday rather than a monday, I am sure a large amount of people would be able to travel for the meet no matter where.
