If you are just starting out in training, about any pace at all will improve your 800m. If you train consistently and wisely, truth is eventually no pace at all will improve your 800m.
Since an 800m runner needs both speed and stamina I suggest you forget about lactate threshold (however you define that) and instead focus on running a wide variety of paces in your training. Focus more on quality not volume. If your training is optimal for racing the 800m, your stamina improves right along with your speed.
