How do you combat the amount of time spent on one's feet running 100 miles when they are an elite vs. a weekend warrior? If the weekend warrior covers 60 miles in the amount of time an elite covers 100, would you recommend the WW caps it at 60?
Do you guys recommend harder workouts at first in order to improve before moving to higher mileage? (i.e. a 38 minute 10K guy doesn't run what you guys would until he gets down to the 35's)
I started mid October with running about 5 hours and 15 minutes a week. (40ish miles). 2 week of this, I'd been at this level before.
Moved onto 5 hours and 45 minutes for 3 weeks.
Currently running 6 hours and 45 minutes roughly, per week.
January will hopefully be about 7 hours a week (just shy of 60 mpw).
This is new territory for me but am I wasting my time with only strides 3x a week and the occassional progression run when I feel good? I don't think it's useful to go any higher than this for the reasons I guessed above.
