I didn't go to the link, but I would guess the player was black?

Of course. Otherwise it would not be posted in letsrun.
I agree with the player. It was a bad call.
f***ing loser
It was worse than I had anticipated. The kid was pushing around players and then the ref who whistled him. He went at the ref more than once, finally throwing him to the ground. There was nothing accidental, inadvertent, or "oops" about it
As an old timer I know says, "some people just aren't well." That kid needs help, off and away from the public.
C'mon. His pushing of other players in that video was not enough to warrant a tech. Worse pushing and shoving takes place in your average XC race than what that guy was doing.

High testosterone + Low IQ = Violence.
The race is an independent factor.
There was a college women's game here where a ref called a foul on teh player, then walked over to the table to report it. As he did, she walked up behind him and punched the side of his head. Out like a light, expelled from school.

Your world is one of low standards that inspires behavior that falls ever further below it. You invite chaos where there is order, cheating where there is competition, and injury where there should be exercise.
Opponents give one another fair and honorable competition. Non-basketball physical attacks and disruptions get called as fouls, by a non-competitor who restores the game to its competitive flow. Further attacks on players and on the ref are the refuge of those who don't get or value the purpose of the competition in the first place, to bring out the better in each other.
A kid who is so far from doing his best, or working with his teammates, or taking the challenge of basketball to better himself, substituting wrestling, or boxing techniques in for basketball plays is a cheater, both within the rules of the game and of the experience of others. The attack on the ref, the most extreme, is consistent with his attitude toward himself, his teammates, and his opponents. He is hostile toward them and the game and wants to hurt/punish them rather than play the game.
We didn't even see prior plays, or hear warnings. Just was on the tape was enough to T him up. Stop playing some other sport on a basketball court, kid. T. His response indicates that the ref made the right call. The kid was just trying to be disruptive, controlling everyone, to their detriment, instead of controlling himself for his and everyone else's benefit.
Expect more of people and they do more and better. Make excuses for them and they sink lower, and lower. This kid already skated past basic accountability. He's likely headed to the court system. I hope he doesn't have the misfortune of finding someone else who lets him off with an excuse. He'll keep spiraling downward.
Okay, that was far more than a push. That was assault. What could possibly make a kid think that's the right thing to do in that situation?

Sure, but it happens during the heat of competition. In this incident the guy was taking the ball down the court.
* Blacks committed 7.5 times more violent inter-racial crimes than whites even though the black population is only one-seventh the size of the white population. When these figures are adjusted on a per capita basis, they reveal an extraordinary disparity: blacks are committing more than 50 times the number of violent racial crimes of whites.
* According to the latest annual report on murder by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, most inter-racial murders involve black assailants and white victims, with blacks murdering whites at 18 times the rate that whites murder blacks
The worst part of that whole video was the dumb b*tch yelling "REBOUND IT!" right before the free throws in the beginning.

You do know that NHL fights result in players getting concussions, being rushed to hospitals with life threatening injuries, getting careers cut short. And these fights happen much more frequently.
Let me take a wild guess? These guys are almost always white?
Oh, and I almost forgot. Hockey players attack fans in the stands Ron Artest style all the fvckin time. It hardly makes the news. I know you didn't see the clip but what race do you think they were?
NHL players don't attack refs that often, I don't think. In this type of situation, the blacks are at fault 95% of the time. No control, horrible parenting, low IQ, no respect for authority, etc. It's a bad deal for anyone that is in the same room as them.

Yeah, it would be forbidden that a violent action of a high school student of any race be posted on letsrun. Jeff, quick sticking up for racist, over-the-top, self-important, socially-impotent people.
there's no shortage of players attacking referees:
why do you note the one above?

Let me guess, from your valedictorian speech?
