I'm graduating, moving to a new city, and starting a job. I'm looking at banks in which to bank with in this new city. What should I look for in a bank. Local or national?

Of course, it depends on what you need and are looking for.
Whatever bank you choose, keep an eye on fees. You shouldn't pay for checking, etc...
I would highly recommend USAA (usaa.com)
National bank, used to cater solely to military, but recently opened up to everyone.
They offer:
- free checking
- awesome customer service
- Other banking products (cash-back credit card, investments, etc.)
- free reimbursement of ATM fees at any other bank's ATM
- free Pre-paid deposit envelopes (for random checks you might need to deposit), any now offer the ability to scan a check's image in immedicately deposit it online.
- good online banking
If you need to actually physically go to a bank, they won't work for you, but I don't have any need for that. The option to use any ATM for free is a great perk, rather than having to look for a specific bank's ATM or getting hit with fees.

Don't overlook credit unions. Try to get one with a membership of over 10,000 if you can help it. Much better than banks as a whole.

Agree with this. USAA has the feel of a credit union more than a Bank, which is why I recommend them.
