Why are olympic development teams competing in USATF club races?
Why are olympic development teams competing in USATF club races?
Why not?
for them running is not a club activity i.e. hobby jogging
cuz like you know nobody else is putting together xc races for post-collegiates that's why.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away (about the time of the original Star Wars, come to think of it), teams like Florida Track Club, Greater Boston Track Club and Club Northwest all had Olympic hopefuls (and Olympians - Shorter, Rodgers, Kardong, anyone?) and were as good as the two best teams in the club race this year. Through the years, there were also squads like Pacific Coast Club, Jamul Toads, Philadelphia Pioneer Club, New York Athletic Club and, later, Athletics West that had some of the top runners in the US. Many of the "clubs" were Olympic development teams.

Why aren't more olympic development teams competing in USATF club races?
Fixed
1) it's expensive to fly out to s.d. for usatf xc in feb
2) usatf clubs paid good prize money
