Anyone have any experience running in Las Vegas? I looked up some parks outside of the city and was wondering if they are a manageable distance/cab fare.

if you are thinking of that red rock canyon or whatever, that's a good place to run, but I think a cab would be expensive
There's been a ton of threads on this in the past, which have some good information. Red Rock Canyon is about a 20 minute drive and is really worth it. Running on the strip can be done very early and there is a track you can run on at UNLV.
definitely do at least one early run on the strip. it's a blast. people are still out drinking, falling down etc. and you are out running - gun times. go early so there's not too much traffic.
other than that, get out to redrock or the track as mentioned in teh last post.
Rent a car for a day and do red rock canyon. Do the run up Turtlehead peak from the parking lot. It goes up 1700 feet in 2.5 miles. My friends and I did it on spring break this year and set the record.
A second opinion on Red Rock Canyon. It's great! Temps in the high 40's early AM even on a summer day when temps reached 115 degrees downtown. Wild burros, roadrunners and all sorts of critters to see. And Red Rocks, of course.
Summerlin, which is a few miles north of the strip, offers some good running. The Kellog-Zaher sports complex has a paved loop that runs for a little under two miles. It's suitable for tempo runs.
Try Sunset Park, Southwest corner of McCarron Airport. There's a walking/bike path around a sizeable pond, wouldn' really call it a lake. One loop aound is shy of a mile by 34 feet.
Here's a Gmap of the route;

It's pretty, away from the strip, but boring for a run of 5 miles or more.
Have fun in Vegas.
I mean SouthEAST corner of McCarron Airport...

Was watching the CNN this morning and saw a guy running through a casino. Apparently, you are supposed to wear a helmet when you run there.
