My Ipod touch won't charge!

Battery is probably dead.

I am not following what you mean by things are backed up but not organized...

Do you mean playlists, etc? Do you not have them in iTunes?

You will likely just need to get a new iPod, they are not supposed to last forever...

What kind is it?

I had this happen to my shuffle. Tried to charge via the usb on my computer. Took it to the Apple store and the guy was able to get it going using his charger directly into an outlet. Apparently they sometimes get so drained a USB can't do the trick and they need the direct current via an outlet.

I have trouble thinking the battery is already dead. It's 3rd gen itouch and less than a year old. It has only been doing this for two weeks and started it very suddenly. I didn't get the extra warranty as i thought surely this will last at least a year before it breaks. I have learned my lesson.

I ended up with a BUNCH of duplicate songs in my itunes and dont want to spend the time going through and deleting them or just picking each individual song to upload my ipod. I can do it if I have to but it would take a while.

It does the same thing on an outlet.

If it's under a year old, take it in to the Apple store, it's still under the manufacturer's warranty, is it not? I'd do a full reset first, though, I don't know why you're loading songs individually onto your iPod. Don't you just put all the songs you want into a playlist and just have your iPod sync to that playlist?

I'm not. Most of my songs came from my old computer, then onto an external HD. Apparently I had a lot of songs saved in multiple places around my old PC, so when they went onto the extHD and onto my new comp, there were tons of duplicates that were put into itunes and I dont have the time to track them all down and delete them. I can't just "select all" because I don't want to waste space on the ipod with duplicate songs. Anyway, that is not the issue here.
